Health Metrics today announced that economist and entrepreneur Nicholas Gruen has taken up the position of Chairman of the company, effective immediately.

Previously held by Craig Charlton, the Chairman’s role involves both Governance and Strategy with a focus on ongoing growth for the Australian company.

Gruen, described by former Finance Minister Lindsay Tanner as “Australia’s foremost public intellectual”, is a policy economist, businessman and entrepreneur as well as commentator on the economy, society and innovation.

He is CEO of Lateral Economics, Visiting Professor at Kings College London Policy Institute and Adjunct Professor at UTS Business School as well as Patron of the Australian Digital Alliance, comprising Australia’s libraries, universities, and providers of digital infrastructure such as Google and Yahoo.

Health Metrics, an Australian company, is well known in the health and well being industry for its software eCase. The organisation has experienced rapid expansion in New Zealand, with eCase gaining significant market share over the last two years.

Gruen says he is “really excited to join Health Metrics to oversee its next stage of business growth.

“Health Metrics provides an important set of products and services to the health and well being sector.  eCase is an innovation based enabler for the health industry.”

Health Metrics, established in 2008, is a leading supplier of software to the health and well being sectors in Australia and New Zealand.  Their enterprise software solution eCase manages the functions of Community Health Centres, Residential Aged Care, Retirement Villages, Home Care, and Disability Care for providers of any size.

“This is a real coup for Health Metrics,” says CEO Steven Strange. “Nicholas brings vast and unique experience to the table and we’re delighted to have him on the team.”
